Annual Contests

The Picnic
Whether made at home, catered by professionals, or from one of our local food trucks on site, great food has always been a central part of the Picnic with the Pops experience!
The Picnic with the Pops Commission
Started in 1980 by a group that included former Lexington Mayor Jim Amato, and Thomas Minter, who served as the chairman of the event until 2012, Picnic with the Pops is now run by a city-appointed commission of volunteers who plan the yearly outdoor live music event.
